LOL @ NECC: We’re Baaaaaack!
|
Saul Rockman, Rockman et al with Michael Jay, Saul Rockman , Heidi Rogers and Elliot Soloway Tuesday, 7/1/2008, 11:00am–12:00pmCT; Grand Hyatt Lone Star Ballroom F |
Purpose & Objectives
LOL is laugh out loud and is a continuing effort by several long-time contributors to the field of education and technology to induce laughter in or create amusement for the traditionally boring school IT geeks. Given the difficulties of creating humor based on networks, firewalls, data-driven decision making, and standards-based curriculum, the LOL team takes its commitment seriously—but not too seriously.
We have heard the responses of those present at last year’s NECC presentation and, instead of heeding their complaints, decided to propose again. We believe strongly that our First Amendment rights need to be tested in the heat of the NECC conference and we are willing to stand up and do our duty. Let it be stated that familiar names with stellar reputations will be among the presenters, willing to risk all to amuse our colleagues.
Some topics under consideration are the anti-computer literacy movement, holding hands with a hand-held, decisions driving data, the emerging faith-based technology, a credible attempt to engage handhelds for learning, a revised NETS for legislators, a song about professional development, and arguments on behalf of a $99 computer.
As before, success will be judged by laughter, embarrassed recognition, and a desire to do this session once again.
