EVENT - Michael Jay and Shaun Taylor Co-direct the CoSN “K-12 Open Technologies Initiative”

Educational Systemics is proud to support CoSN’s “K-12 Open Technologies Initiative” – co-sponsored by the IBM Corporation and the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation. Michael Jay and Shaun Taylor are serving as project co-directors and helping to shepard this important initiative designed to increase understanding and awareness of open technologies, including open source software, open standards to ensure interoperability, and hardware devices using open source operating systems.

Launched in March 2006, CoSN held an international symposium in conjunction with the initiative – Open Technologies: Issues, Exemplary Practices and Future Directions in Education. Most recently, the initiative launched a web site designed to help educators and technologists with the planning, evaluation, decision-making, and implementation processes associated with adopting Open Technologies in K-12. As Shaun Taylor, Project Coordinator and Educational Systemics Research Associate stated “This is a unique opportunity for U.S. education leaders to learn what much of the rest of the world already knows: open technologies provide great opportunity for the world of education”.
