Bellingham, WA (June, 2013) – The AAP awards Michael Jay, President of Educational Systemics Inc., with the 2013 Lamplighter Ambassador’s award. The Association of Educational Publisher’s (AEP) is an organization that works to support the educational resource community with quality content for students and teachers. The AAP’s Ambassador Award is one of the four Lamplighter awards that the AEP offers for leadership in educational Publishing.
Each year, members of the AAP nominate a fellow member for their achievement and contribution to the education community. The Ambassador award is given to a member who has gone above and beyond in building and fostering relationships across the resource community. Michael Jay’s willingness to offer business advice and his commitment to establishing long-lasting professional connections has made him an ideal candidate for this prestigious award.
“I find it rewarding to bring together people with common interests and different skill sets as this often results in elegant solutions to otherwise complex issues or at least interesting conversation that leaves all involved with greater understanding of the challenges in providing quality education for all learners” says Michael Jay.
Michael sits on the AAP’s Content in Context (CIC) Committee as a co-chair. He played a pivotal role in the development of the AEP’s CIC conference June 5, 2013 in Washington D.C. Michael took leadership in attracting new attendees, bringing in intriguing speakers, and developing content that speaks to all aspects of the industry.
Michael also works with the AAP supporting the adoption of the Learning Resource Metadata Initiative (LRMI). Speaking at conferences across the country and around the world, Michael has a firm grasp on the LRMI and the global education community.
“I am still a credentialed teacher and I see involvement with the AAP as continuing to make a contribution to my chosen profession” states Michael.
On December 9, 2013, the AAP will be presenting the awards at the Lamplighter Honors Gala at the Russian Tea Room in New York, NY. For more information on the Lamplighter Award, please follow: http://www.aepweb.org/aepweb/index.php/awards/lamplighter-honors.html
